달라진 모습

다정한 트레이너 A는 사람들을 달라지게 해 주며 이름을 알린다. 하지만 자신을 믿고 따르던 회원 B가 쓰러지자, A는 진실보다 자신의 이름값을 지키는 쪽을 택한다. 그리고 그 선택을 거듭한 끝에, 끝내 팔 수 있는 진심마저 잃고 만다.

A는 늘 사람들로 붐비는 헬스장에서 가장 찾는 사람이 많은 트레이너다.

목소리를 높이는 법도 없고, 사람을 몰아붙이는 대신 스스로 달라질 수 있다고 믿게 만든다.

실제로 그녀를 만난 사람들은 조금씩 변한다.

A는 언젠가 자기 이름을 건 운동 공간을 열기 위해 돈을 모으고 있다.

그러던 중 병을 앓고 난 뒤 다시 운동을 시작하려는 나이 든 회원 B를 맡게 된다.

B의 바람은 딸의 결혼식에서 딸의 손을 잡고 당당히 걸어 들어가는 것이다.

A는 B가 조금씩 회복하는 모습을 영상으로 찍어 올린다.

그 영상이 퍼지면서 A의 이름은 순식간에 알려지고, 투자자들까지 연락해 온다.

하지만 사람들이 보고 싶어 하는 이야기와 달리 B의 몸은 기대만큼 따라오지 못한다.

B가 어느 순간 더 나아가지 못하자, A는 그것을 두려움 때문이라고 여기고 훈련 강도를 더 높인다.

결국 B는 운동 중에 쓰러진다.

곧 문을 열 자신의 공간을 지키기 위해 A는 B가 집에서 혼자 무리하다가 쓰러진 것처럼 말을 바꾸고, 자신이 올린 게시물의 날짜도 몰래 손본다.

B는 여전히 A에게 고마운 마음이 있어 그 말을 부정하지 않는다.

투자도 확정된다.

A는 더 많은 회원을 받고, 더 빠른 변화를 약속하고, 예전 같으면 거들떠보지도 않았을 보충제까지 팔기 시작한다.

한때 A에게 밀려 그 자리를 빼앗겼던 트레이너 C는 B가 정말 어떻게 다쳤는지 캐묻기 시작한다.

A에게는 사실을 바로잡을 마지막 기회가 찾아온다.

하지만 B는 끝까지 A를 믿고, A의 공간이 문을 열 수 있도록 자신이 공개적으로 책임지겠다고 나선다.

A는 그것을 막지 않는다.

결국 A의 운동 공간은 예정대로 문을 연다.

거울로 둘러싸인 방 안에서 A는 더 이상 자신도 믿지 않는 말을 팔고 있다.

그리고 자신을 가장 믿어 주었던 단 한 사람은 이미 곁을 떠났다.

B, grateful, lets it stand.

The investors commit.

A scales fast, taking more clients, making faster promises, selling supplements she once refused to touch.

C, a trainer A undercut for the slot, starts asking how B really got hurt.

A gets one clear chance to correct the record.

Instead B, still loyal, offers to take the blame in public so the studio can open.

A lets her.

The doors open on schedule.

A stands in a room of mirrors, selling a belief she no longer holds, the one person who trusted her gone.
