작은 재활 클리닉을 운영하는 물리치료사 A에게 인생을 바꿀 환자가 찾아온다. 그를 놓치지 않으려고 A는 아직 준비되지 않은 무릎에 출전 가능 판정을 내린다.

A는 작은 재활 클리닉을 운영하며 평범한 환자들을 치료하지만, 마음 한편으로는 늘 유명 선수들을 맡는 날을 꿈꾼다.

그러던 어느 날 프로 선수 B가 찾아온다.

B는 자신의 계약을 좌우할 중요한 경기에 나서기 위해 복귀 검사를 통과해야 한다.

A는 실력 있는 치료사다.

B의 무릎 상태를 재자마자 아직 경기에 뛸 수 없다는 걸 안다.

게다가 B가 처음 다친 경위를 거짓말하고 있다는 것도 눈치챈다.

하지만 A는 모른 척한다.

B의 이름이 자기 클리닉에 걸리는 순간, 자신이 바라던 미래가 열릴 것 같기 때문이다.

처음에는 모든 일이 A에게 유리하게 흘러간다.

B는 빠르게 좋아지고, 구단 주치의는 A를 칭찬하며 또 다른 선수를 보낸다.

이제 A는 떠오르는 치료사로 불린다.

그 칭찬은 A의 판단을 점점 좁힌다.

B를 정해진 일정 안에 복귀시키기 위해 A는 관절 가동 범위 수치를 조금씩 좋게 적기 시작하고, 나중에는 아예 없는 수치를 만들어 낸다.

차이는 일주일만 더 버티면 메울 수 있다고 스스로를 속인다.

A가 직접 가르친 후배 물리치료사 C가 조작된 기록을 발견하고 조용히 A에게 가져온다.

A는 그 일을 덮어 버리고, 기록상의 문제를 C의 실수처럼 보이게 둔다.

결국 B는 출전 허가를 받고 경기에 나간다.

그러나 생중계 도중 B의 무릎이 무너지고, 모든 책임은 A가 서명한 복귀 판정으로 향한다.

상황은 순식간에 뒤집힌다.

B는 이제야 자신도 두려움 때문에 처음부터 거짓말을 했다고 인정한다.

A가 믿기로 선택한 자료는 첫날부터 이미 썩어 있었던 것이다.

A는 사실을 고백해 면허와 클리닉을 잃고 C의 누명을 벗길 수도 있고, 마지막까지 정직했던 사람에게 책임이 남도록 둘 수도 있다.

A는 선택해야 한다.

더 높이 올라가려고 세운 클리닉은 이제, 누군가에게 인정받고 싶다는 마음 때문에 자신이 어디까지 추락할 수 있는지를 똑똑히 보여 주는 장소가 된다.

A runs a small clinic and treats ordinary patients while she dreams of elite work.

B arrives, a pro athlete who must pass a return-to-play exam before a contract-defining game.

A is good.

She measures his knee and knows it is not ready.

B lies about how he first tore it; A hears the lie and lets it stand, because his name on her wall means the future she wants.

The early weeks reward her.

B improves fast.

A team doctor praises her, sends her a second athlete, calls her a rising name.

The praise narrows her.

To hold B's timeline, A starts rounding his range-of-motion numbers, then inventing them, telling herself the gap is one good week wide.

C, the junior PT she trained, finds the falsified log and brings it to her quietly.

A buries it and lets the error read as C's.

B clears.

B plays.

The knee folds on live broadcast, and the failure traces straight back to A's signed clearance.

The pressure flips: B now admits he lied to protect his own fear, which means the data was rotten from the first day she chose to trust it.

A can confess, surrender the license and the clinic, and clear C, or let the discrepancy stay pinned on the one honest person left.

She decides.

The clinic she built to climb becomes the place where she learns exactly how far she would fall to be wanted.
