부동산 중개인 A는 집의 흠까지 숨기지 않는다는 평판으로 이름을 얻었다. 하지만 큰돈이 걸린 매물 하나 앞에서 딱 한 번 입을 다문 뒤, 다시 정상에 오르는 대가는 자신을 믿게 했던 유일한 이유를 잃는 것이 된다.

A는 집을 팔 때 좋은 말만 하지 않는다.

바닥 콘크리트에 간 금, 예전 침수 흔적, 새로 칠한 페인트 뒤에 남은 눅눅한 냄새까지 전부 말한다.

그래서 사려는 사람들은 A를 믿고, 팔려는 사람들은 A를 싫어한다.

그래도 계약은 성사된다.

A의 이름값은 바로 그 믿음에서 나왔다.

그런데 부동산 경기가 얼어붙는다.
