생활고에 시달리던 팟캐스터는 마을의 실종 여성 사건을 다뤄 인기 방송을 만든다. 그러던 중 사건을 끝낼 수 있는 진짜 제보가 들어온다. 하지만 사건이 풀리면 자신의 유명세도 끝난다는 걸 알기에, 그는 제보를 숨긴 채 계속 방송을 이어 간다.

A는 옷장 안에서 실제 범죄 사건을 다룬 방송을 녹음한다.

듣는 사람은 고작 이백 명 남짓이고, 월세를 내려고 밤마다 일을 한다.

그러다 오래전 사라진 한 여성의 미제 사건을 다루기로 한다.

실종된 여성의 남동생 B는 A를 믿고 가족들이 간직해 온 옛 영상과 녹음 자료를 넘겨주고, 긴 시간 인터뷰에도 응한다.

방송은 뜻밖에 크게 뜬다.

청취자가 늘고 광고 문의가 들어온다.

A는 사람들을 붙잡아 두려고 매주 다른 용의자를 암시하고, B의 슬픔마저 다음 편을 기다리게 만드는 장치처럼 잘라 쓴다.

She lets the suspect theory run, names a man, and watches the numbers spike.

A forced retraction dents her ratings, so she doubles down with a bigger on-air reveal to recover.

Then the buried voicemail surfaces.

The named man's life is already wrecked.

B learns A knew for months and said nothing.

The body is found exactly where the caller said.

A's show goes number one the same week it falls apart.

B stops answering.
